“The theatre is a spiritual and social x-ray of its time”

When the noted actress and teacher Stella Adler used these words to define the theatre she might have been speaking directly to the mission for our theatrical journeys here at Wellesley. Whether we are telling truths about societal ills, mocking the hypocrisies of social convention or simply engaging in tongue in cheek humor, it is always with the goal of learning more about our world and the people who inhabit it. As we in the theatre take this new and challenging road to an unfamiliar performance venue, we do so secure in the knowledge that the work we do will continue to be a source of joy and challenge for us on and offstage. The building may be different for the next few years, but the goal of enlightenment and joy through the theatrical endeavor never changes or wavers. We look forward to welcoming you to our new home and our 2008/2009 season. Wellesley Summer Theatre
